What is the significance of May 1?
To the Celts, May Day was the most important day of the year — thought to divide the year in half between light and dark. Fire ceremonies and, later, the festival of flowers, combined into one glorious celebration of rebirth and renewal known as Beltane. Beth also has a soft spot for Maypole dancing. May Day is also international workers day, a time to pause the workweek frenzy and hold space for humane working conditions and pay equality.
Exactly what kind of “unintimidating and fun May Day activities” are you planning? I’m skurred….
Fret not. You don’t have to play. But if you’re a kid at heart like us, we invite you to make a flower crown, brush some paint onto canvas floor cloth we plan to use in our future studio, or frolic beneath the wind chimes. The fun activities generally boil down to sipping, noshing and being creative.
